TIMELAPSE
by Helen Speight.

An exciting new story.  It's quite an epic and will have to be produced in several parts.
Part One 'Catalyst' and Part Two "Stand-Off" are available now and just to whet your appetite the following is a short extract from Part One.
Part Three "Destiny" & Part Four "Through the Eye" NOW AVAILABLE

"What happened to me?" Avon grated harshly.
"You were one of the collection brought in after an "accident," Troy explained gently, aware of the man's heavy disquiet.
Avon stared at him,     "Brought in where?"
"Tarrellian Bio-System Repair Complex..."
Avon interrupted,   "What sort of accident...?" frowning as he tried to remember.
"Sorry," Troy winced in pain, "I don't know...I wasn't here then."
This last information caused Avon further concern. He swallowed, then drew a steadying breath.  "This accident...how long ago was it?" he rasped apprehensively.
"About twelve years ago, I think, some time before I was allocated here..."  Avon was completely stunned. Troy added carefully, "You spent quite a while in a coma, I believe, and since then you've been - well – almost a vegetable!"
Breathing unsteadily, Avon looked away. "12 years.." he gasped in a hoarse whisper, staring at nothing.."Who is running the Federation now?" he enquired, keeping his voice deliberately casual.
His companion laughed cynically.   "There IS no Federation any more!" he responded, to Avon's surprise. "The known Universe, such as it is, is run by a Tyrant now - one that makes the old Federation look relatively tame - a real Psychopath with a sadistic bent and no scruples! You certainly haven't missed anything!!  People are drugged, tortured, disappear now more than they ever did, even when the Federation ran things - and there was more than enough of it back then!"
"Yes, I remember!" Avon recalled bitterly.
Troy continued,   "It happened when most of the High Command were wiped out in a resistance trap."
The latter information seemed to please Avon, he looked towards Troy with sudden interest,    "Tell me about it!" he requested.
"What I can." Troy offered. "The resistance finally got its act together and persuaded the military to disown its dead Masters and support them.  There was a lot of squabbling for a while… first one faction would seem to be ahead, then another... you know how it goes..." Avon nodded. "Then, of course, HE turned up and the masses were ecstatic! He was the Ideal Candidate! Everyone joined forces under their new Leader, their "Hero", Earth's Salvation.... What a Saviour he turned out to be... an unparalleled monster!!!" he concluded bitterly, then added with venom, "The sooner someone puts a blast through Blake's head, the better!! No, that's too good for him… he should be... "
But, at that name, Avon instantly froze, astounded by the words; he interrupted explosively and incredulously,    "BLAKE!!"

AVON  28

Play Dirty by Hilary Robertshaw.
'Avon sat back in the flight seat, his booted feet resting on the edge of the console, watching, as the planet grew larger on the screen. He could not remember the last time he had slept and his eyes felt heavy. The call sign had already come, via the key, and the computer had locked on to the signal. The auto-nav was set and all he had to do was wait for the landing.
"The ship will be landing in 15 minutes," intoned the computer.
Avon gritted his teeth, "This had better be worth it Servalan."

AVON 27
Guile by Maggie Crowe.
Vila collapsing without the assistance of Soma ? What on earth is going on aboard the Liberator ?

AVON 26
A Distortion of Time by Marian de Haan.
"You mean you know where we are, and when?" Blake felt an irrational resentment; SOMEDAY he'd come upon a subject, besides neuro-surgery, that Avon knew absolutely nothing about!
"We're somewhere in England, close to the Welsh border, around  mid12th Century."
Avon produced a brief smile. "Not that this is of much use to us. Regrettably my knowledge does not stretch to information about this murder case."
Blake gave Avon a hard stare: "You mean that Orac brought us here deliberately to solve this crime?".....

AVON 25
Two stories from Marian de Haan and Viv Gover. Gate Crasher is a new story whilst Heart of Stone was originally published by the Club a number of years ago. As the stories are both shortish (about 32 pages altogether) it seemed a good idea to put them together in this new zine

AVON 23
ECHOES OF THE PAST - by Gillian Puddle.
"Tarrant."  Avon spoke in a deceptively gentle voice knowing what he was about to say would shatter the younger man's dreams.  "Tarrant."
Tarrant blinked and came to life.   Standing up, he stretched and then retook his seat scanning the instruments in front of him as he did so.  "Almost there," he remarked with satisfaction, "Slave might as well handle the landing.  It's only routine."
"I want you to stay on board this time," said Avon wasting no time in dropping his first bombshell.
"What did you say?" queried Tarrant, looking with surprise at Avon.
"You heard what I said.  You're to stay on board Scorpio."
Tarrant's face reddened with anger, "I don't take orders from you, Avon.  I'm not staying on Scorpio."
"I wonder if she likes you as much as she liked Dorian," mused Avon almost to himself.

AVON 24
SEEK, AND YE SHALL FIND. by Ros Williams.
"It was foolish," Carnell said. "But when did you ever think of strategy, Servalan, when your emotions were in control? However, we are not here to discuss Auron." He looked past Servalan now to Brin, and said, "Your time has come, my friend."  The gun had been hanging slackly in Brin's hand. Now he raised it and aimed at Avon. "He is a sure marksman," Carnell said to Avon. "And at this distance, who could miss anyway?" His voice was no longer suave. It was cold and hard and utterly ruthless. Vila shivered. He understood now how this man could work with Servalan, or anyone like her, and survive.  "You have a reputation for missing targets," Carnell continued to Avon. "Will you take the risk? If you shoot at me, Brin will kill you without fail - I guarantee it."
